What is a payment processor?

A payment processor is the company that moves a card transaction between your customer's bank and yours — authorizing the sale, settling the funds, and depositing them into your account. Velocity sets you up with the right processor and pricing for your business.

Every time a customer taps or swipes a card, a payment processor does the work behind the scenes: it sends the transaction to the card networks, gets approval from the customer's bank, and settles the money into your merchant account — usually by the next business day.

Processors differ in pricing, hardware, support, and the industries they'll approve. That's where a provider like Velocity comes in: we match you to the right processor, set up transparent pricing (including Cash Discount options that offset almost all your fees), and support you locally after the sale.
