What is a rolling reserve?

A rolling reserve is a portion of your card sales a processor temporarily holds to cover potential chargebacks — common for high-risk or new merchants. The held funds are released back to you on a rolling schedule.

When a business is new, high-volume, or in a higher-risk category, a processor may hold a small percentage of sales in a rolling reserve as protection against chargebacks and refunds. Those funds aren't lost — they're released back to you after a set period, typically on a rolling basis.

Velocity works with multiple processors, so we can often place accounts with reasonable terms and explain exactly how any reserve works before you sign.
